What’s the difference between loyalty and faithful?

A knight can be loyal to his king who he may has never seen before, but he can only remains faithful to his wife and family.

It is hard to tell the difference between the two at times, even for a wise man. They are both derived from the same concept. But for me, it seems like one is from the mind and the other one is from the heart.

Being loyal doesn’t mean you have to believe in the person, object or idea. One can blindly follow orders and it could be the most inhumane and devastating demand ever. But one will still follows it, out of loyalty. It doesn’t require much to stay loyal. Without judgement and love, anyone is capable of being devoted. It is almost duitful in a sense. Loyalty can simply be understand as an obligation, a job to fulfill or a thing the mind tells one to do while being faithful is an entirely different thing.

When one is faithful, one is being ardent, passionate, and fervid. You can stay loyal to anything but you can only stay faithful to certain things. Only in things you feel strongly about. And not everyone can do that. It is an act of being loyal to the object of your affection.

To me, being faithful is a beautiful act of placing hope in something you believed firmly in. It is something your heart tells you to do rather than the mind. It involves feeling, emotion, thought, and most importantly, it is something your heart desires to do.
